not one single bugle all weekend
« on: October 19, 2015, 05:43:50 PM »
Deer hunting up on Colockum, not a single bugle from friday until 3pm monday (today).

Pretty sickening. all tracks we seen and we covered many many miles on foot this weekend, nothing and no new track anywhere either.
only heard a couple Coyotes.
TANNERITE needed for target practice on opening day of each hunting season.

Don't you think the rut is over? It's about a month past the peak. Muzzleloader season just barely catches the tail end of the rut. Or do you think the Colockum is different than everywhere else?  :dunno:

I think he was hoping for the second phase of the rut

I heard them for about an hour at first light on saturday. I've been on elk everyday so far. I haven't seen 1 deer though... going to try a new area tomorrow.

Over in peaches they've been very vocal at last light and during night as of this past weekend. :dunno: same with another area s.e. of that unit. Strange year for sure. .. :dunno:

Those Bulls have been screaming solid since the first of Sept. Sooner or later they have to take a break :) also depend where you hunted if you get in the bigger bunches with multiple  bull they have been overly vocal helped us fill two spike tags and one cow tag during muzzy season. The small groups of elk didn't talk much after the first couple days of season

I'd say there's a few still bugling someplace/somewhere but I would agree that most of the rut is winding down for sure just my  :twocents:

Watched a big 6 and a rag 5 with about 20 cows in gmu 340 on saturday. They were rutting for sure, the big bull would run the little bull off whenever he could and we watched the big bull try to mount a cow. Didn't bugle all that much, maybe 10 times in about an hour period.

We still saw bulls breeding cows this weekend. Bugles were few and far between, but we still heard a few
