Thompson Center BlackDiamond XR
« on: October 20, 2015, 09:21:24 PM »
I just read a thread in here about the different loads used for this gun and they're talking about powder charges up to 150 grains.  Is that right? as it seems like the manual with mine says up to 100 grains only???

I shoot 110 out of mine and have never had any problems.  Pretty sure my manual says up to 150....I will double check tomorrow.

My manual says 150.

Three pellets down the pipe.

I have shot 150 gr. out of mine a several times and came to the conclusion that it is more powder then can burn before the round leaves the tube.

I have the same rifle and found 100gns of Pyrodex RS pellets or loose powder + Hornady 250grn SST is a good load.

I tried 150grn and it kicked like a mule  :twocents:

My bad. The manual says 150 or three pellets for max loads.  I will try the Hornady 250grn SST.  Thanks.

I found through my trials and tribulations that 100 gr of pyrodex and a 300 grain SST is money

90gr of FFG and a 300gr SST for me.  And its accurate further than my eyes allow me to shoot.  In a pinch, I'll go two pellets and the SST and there is no noticeable difference.

No noticeable difference.......... that's because you never looked on the ground and saw all that black stuff on-top of the snow after shooting that 3rd pellet load. Sometimes even a fireball occurs and one clump of black may be seen yards away in the snow.

The Black Diamond XR and the Omega are two of the best, most accurate MLs old T/C ever produced. Had T/C began the Encore ML-making process with an oversized hinge pin, that one would have been also included on the Top-10 Greatest Inline MLs ever. White Rifles and Knight Rifles have multiple models planted on that list too.
