retained baby teeth?
« on: October 30, 2015, 02:05:13 PM »
So my 7 month old lab has retained a baby canine tooth, reading on Google it appears it should probably be temoved, as to not cause problems with his permanent tooth.
I called my vet to schedule a appointment, and she is saying I dot need to worry about it at this time, unless it's swollen or he starts to favor it, which he isnt, doesn't appear to bother him at all.
Should I worry about it now, or just keep my eye on it?

Keep your eye on it.  When you forget about it and then remember odds are it will be gone. :twocents:

If they remain there they can accumulate debris between it and the permanent canine. Labs usually don't have too much problem with this, but breaking it off by tugging is different than it coming out normally via root resorption. If it is not out in the next 2 months or so have your vet take a peek at it  ;)
This is assuming that there is a healthy canine tooth that is there as well. At 7 months they are almost fully developed.
