Nothing new for me. Bought a Mystic Crystal slate after my first bird last year and called in #2 with it. I guess it's still new right?

BTW: I love that Black Widow slate Diehard. Had mine for years.

Gutpile,
How did you like the Mystic crystal slate? Did it function wet very well?

Yelp .are the turkeys in Lincon co. true Rio's or are they all hybrids? I haven't hunted that county yet.

Not to butt in.....
I believe a lot of those birds now are very interbred with the Merriams.  I'm even seein Rio looking birds up in Stevens now.  The whole species designation by county is pretty much out the window IMO.

Merriams were released in the Hawk Creek Area years prior to the final releases.  The final releases came from Blue Mtn Rio Grande flocks.  Rio Grande Turkeys seem to be the best fit.  Many turkeys can fly these rivers so I am sure some areas in Stevens County have a mix of Rios and Merriams.  I am not to picky...if it plays my game I am usally satisfied.
Wild Turkey, Walleyes, Whitetails and Wapiti..These are a few of my favorite things!!

 :yeah:

I've seen turkeys fly and glide for nearly a 1/2 mile.

I haven't really noticed any crossbreeds near Lincoln when I hunted there but its been a couple of years since so who knows by now, I'm sure there are a few? The dark Rios are very cool looking and pretty easy to identify
