Trapping test

I am in the middle of reading the trapper education manual.  I was just wondering how hard the test is.  For those of you who have taking it, what should I concentrate on the most.  I just dont know if I can memorize all this stuff.  I guess I am just getting overwhelmed by all the animal biology.  Have not even got to half the manual yet.

THe more you learn the better you will be.  Thres a lot more than just setting out traps.  Im sure you'll do fine.  Just take your time and study.  Take breaks if you get tired.  The worst that could happen is you have to take it again, but Im sure you'll do fine.  All that biology helps you when you are in the field about to set traps, adjust your trap line, and help you enjoy your pastime better.

I would suggest continue reading the material and then take the class this summer.

Who is your instructor?  Just memorize all of the crap that doesnt have anything to do with legal trapping after the ban.  The whole test is based on using pre-ban traps.

I dont have an instructor.  I am doing the home study program.  I am enjoying the reading and learning all about this stuff but I was just wondering what the test actually covers.  I know most of the stuff I am reading does not apply to trapping in Washington but its still good to know.

Back when I took it the test it was all about jaw gaps, trap sizes for water and land and trap check times. These have all changed since I took the test. Good luck.

You would have thought...  The test hasnt changed.  Some key points to memorize are endangered species, check times, trap sizes and types(jaw traps), what to do if you catch an animal that is not open to trapping, etc.  You dont need to memorize what animal is in what areas or anything like that.  You should take the time to learn the laws also.

Thanks that is what I was hoping to hear.  I will still be trying to learn as much as I can about all of it but I want to pass the test also.  I dont know why Im so interested in this all the sudden.  I have never trapped, I dont know anyone who traps, I dont even own any traps or know where to buy or make them but just really want to learn it.     Internet, books and videos will have to do.
