RCW changes proposed by WDFW
« on: January 21, 2009, 03:57:40 PM »
http://wdfw.wa.gov/wlm/game/seasonsetting/2009-2011_recommendations/232-12-051_ots-2145.1draft.pdf

Items of note:
1)modern sidearms are allowed for personal protection
2)209's are still not legal
3)they lined thru all the bullet requirements, so it appears that jacketed bullets will be legal
4) Muzzleloading firearms used during a modern firearm season are not required to meet ignition, sight, or double barrel restrictions.

BUT, you can no longer use those ML in-lines with a hood over the nipple with a hole drilled in it to expose it to the elements. Have to be uncovered and able to be seen now !!

I agree with the changes, But i read this as "Exposed to the weather" means the percussion cap or the
frizzen must be visible and not capable of being covered or closed
by an integral part of the weapon proper. Means i can still put electrical tape over the breach...

I take it to mean the same. Bet you could go old school and fashion a rawhide cover and be legal.

I just read the changes to WAC 232-12-051 "Muzzleloading firearms", all good changes in my opinion.

I hunt muzzle loader for deer and the only thing that I don't like is that for the 371 Alkali hunt that used to be in late November they moved it to Sept 27-Oct16.  The only thing that sucks about that is it's really hard to see any bucks until the rut starts.  Once the rut starts you'll see 20 legal bucks a day but until then you have really got to work just to see one.

We on the west side have taken it in the shorts.
Lost 1 unit, reduced late hunt by 10 days in some units.
The people that hunt the either sex units got a few more days. I thought they might give us a few more units but they took 1 away.

While you may be happy for yourself and your usergroup. I hope you are upset that bear hunting in August will be against the law on PUBLIC land and that you write a letter expressing that.

Yeah, glad to hear they relaxed the sidearm rule.  Now I don't have to keep it in my daypack.. :chuckle:
