Need Help!
« on: December 12, 2015, 08:15:44 AM »
So this morning a buddy and I and our wives went to Nisqually Basin to do some hunting, well about 10 minutes into our ride out to our spot and our boat capsized. Long story short, After waiting over an hour for fire department to get us all of us are safe, but we lost a ton of gear! If you find any please let me know!

Thanks guys!

That's what we came out saying too. Stuff is replaceable. The fact that the four of us and the dog came out ok is all that mattered this morning.

Can you expand on how the boat capsized??

Sorry for you experience and loss of equipment, that sucks, but glad everyone made it home!

Ya I just hadn't yet. We were cruising along and the water was really pretty calm, but a wave came out of nowhere and went over the bow of the boat and enough of it came in that the entire front end of the boat went under water, at which point water was coming in super fast. As we all jumped out the boat flipped. Two climbed on top, while myself and one other hung onto the outside of the boat kicking our feet to try to get the upside down boat to either the shore or island, which we successfully did after about 40-45 minutes.

Yes, be thankful. I've put a few boats under, but never a body. It sure does happen quick.

How did you call for help?   :dunno:

Glad everyone is o.k.  This time of year, it could have been a lot worse!

Thankfully the guy we went with had a waterproof case on his phone. I don't know what we would have done otherwise.

You've put a few under? That was freaky man! I wasn't sure we're were all going to make it, but sure glad we did. And yes it did happen fast, although it all seemed slow motion as the boat went over.

My sled, two canoes, a poke boat, and my 22' glastron off Westport. I spend a lot of time on the water. Probably happen again too. Get back out there

metlhead,, I think you might want to say out of boats. Or take a bunch of classes on how to operate one. In over 30 years of boat owner, I've never dumped one.

Revwrangler,, Glad everything came out ok. That water can come up fast. Safety and a couple of trips are your best friends. Good luck on finding some of your gear.
