Finally bit the bullet
« on: December 15, 2015, 08:43:09 PM »
Well after a few years of talk, I finally bit the bullet and bought a Non-resident elk tag for Idaho.  I decided to surprise my dad with a tag also.  I had been talking with him about doing it and trying to justify the price and convince him to go with me but I wasn't sure if he would be able to justify the cost to mom or not so I just decided to buy it for him.  Now he won't turn it down for sure!  He doesn't know I bought it yet, he thinks I bought him a fishing license to do some Pike fishing next spring, although I think he's suspicious about that.  He will see here in a week or so when he gets his Elk and Wolf tags in the mail!

Very cool gift. New experiences and memories with your dad will make it worth the price.

Well he got his tags in the mail last week and was obviously pretty surprised. The plan is to hunt unit 10a for a week probably.  It's a long enough season and close enough for me in Spokane that if needed I can take a long weekend on top of that.  Also I am going to make a couple trips this summer to scout and hang some trail cameras.  Looking forward to it this year.

Keep us posted. I've been wanting to do the same for a couple years now. Next year might be the one!

Your kids would still have to like you when you get that old!  You could be a good son and buy your old man a tag too.  Don't be cheap!

The season runs from October 10-Nov. 3 but I'm not sure exactly when we will head over.  Probably be there for the first week of the season, then if need be I will make a weekend trip or two after that.
