Great deal! Usually I get my Rem700's around Christmas time from our local Bi-Mart to use the actions for custom builds but they aren't carrying them this year. I'll have to swing by the local Walmart.

No, I have a pile of take offs and a h&h in the pile. They are all common chamberings in adl.....243, 223, 308, 30-06......etc

Old cartridge designed for the British colonies in Africa.  Kind of led the way for modern magnums.  A long round, though.  It basically has the velocity/trajectory of a .30-06, but with a 270 gr bullet vs a 180 br bullet.  Because the velocity is rather low compared to the screamer magnums that are now popular, it can push a bullet with a lot of ft-lbs and not 'blow up' on impact. (but bullet design determines that a lot now)

I was at one today and they had a Rem 700 270 Win. ADL with the plastic stock and it came with a little Bushnell scope attached with a 2 pc rail and rings for $377 and he told me that was their normal price.  I believe the $35 Remington mail in rebate is good on purchases up till Dec. 31 which would make it a pretty cheap donor action if anyone is looking to build something in the future.  I didn't buy it but the more I think about it the more I think I'll be going back to Wallymart.
