I've had a lot of experience with both. I would strongly recommend a knight.

I bought a Knight, but I have several friends perfectly happy with the Traditions. I would choose one you'll be happy with indefinitely. Muzzleloaders don't have to be that expensive to be a good hunting tool for many years.  :twocents:

I have had two traditions guns, which are both bolt actions.  I now have cva optimas, and love them.  Knights have a great reputation, if you can afford one.

The traditions bolt rifles have heavy, rough triggers, making it hard to shoot good groups.  I haven't shot the break-action traditions guns, but our optimas have a smooth trigger right out of the box.   :twocents:

Buy once, cry once.

If it ends up not being your bag, selling a quality gun will be a piece of cake.  Besides, in the grand scheme of things, the price of the gun itself isn't that big of an expense.  Save up for another six months if that's what you need to do--$40/month for the next six months, which still gives you plenty of time during nice weather to pull your groups together, test out loads, etc. before next fall.
