I'd say just get out and try them and see what works for you. One thing for sure you will never call in a coyote sitting at home wondering which call will work best. They've come in for me on at least a half dozen different rabbit sounds, bird distress, kitten/cat distress, vole/mouse sounds , rat distress, fox distress, flying squirrel distress, even one called mad chicken.
As long as it sounds like an easy meal they will come, even to sounds that they have never heard before.
I like distress calls myself and use them most of the year. My partner has good luck with pup distress calls. I listen to the calls and use the ones that have to most pleading distress sound in them. If your in the right spot at the right time just about anything will call in a coyote. I have a number of callers and most have at least 100 sounds on them and I use the same 10 or 12 most of the time and have good luck.
