About 30 minutes. Took longer to get the nerve to put a 900° iron to a 4 day old gun  :chuckle:. Glad I did it the grip improved a lot.

Haha it would have taken me a LOT longer to build up the nerve. It looks great though! I wish my boredom was that productive.

Wow, only 30 minutes, I would have thought a lot longer.  Looks pretty good to me.

Hey, any chance you could go back and count all those little stipple marks, I'm curious how many it took to do the whole gun.  I'd like a very accurate total so maybe count them all two or three times. lol    It'd probably take a lot longer than 30 minutes to count them all and your eyes would likely be crossed when you were done.

Look at the front and back straps. The original was a kind of molded texture that didn't really have a lot of grip. I basically melted little holes into the f/b straps which greatly improves the grip . Here's a stock grip

Probably not something I'd want to do if you've been drinking because it's doubtful it would turn out as well as huntandjeep's did. :bdid:

On guns with minimal texture that feel kinda hard and slick, I've used a Hogue slip on grip sleeve but on something like the Shield that has a fairly short grip, I'm not sure one would work very well on these.

Excellent work!

I've been wanting to do this with my G23. I have an airsoft pistol that would work great for practice.

I guess I know what I'm doing this weekend, LOL!

Would you post the video(s) you used?

That took some serious guts to take a hot soldering iron to a new pistol. It looks like it turned out awesome though!

I just searched " stippling " on YouTube and alot popped up. I just watched one guy do a Glock and  said  " hell I can do that " and went to it practicing while I went  :chuckle:. You get the hang of it real quick.

Stipple party at huntandjeep's house on Saturday for everyone who owns a Shield.  Huntandjeep will provide drinks and snacks and do all the stippling.  What time should we show up? :chuckle:
