Definitely a cool option for a factory rifle. I shot one on a Remington 700 action several years ago built by Pac-Nor. Furthest I shot it was 500 yards. Compared  to the .300 Win Mag we were shooting at the same time. The 6.5-300 Weatherby definitely had less flight time at that yardage.

That's a lot of powder for a 6.5 bullet. I love the fact those flat shooters take some of the holdover guesswork out of the equation. I'd bet you could dial that thing in at 300yds and only be 2 inches high at 100 and 3-4 inches low at 400. Point blank to 400yd hold dead on! Can't imagine the barrel life being that great though. Also going to take a loonng barrel to take advantage of this cartridge.

At least a 26" barrel :twocents:

I'd imagine it's going to take a slower powder too.

What kind of velocities with say a 140gr bullet?

Better be buying US 869 now. I have a 6.5 stw which is going to be really comparable. I dont know what twist their going to put in their rifles. I mostly messed around with 140 grain bullets and for the extra work id rather have my 270 wsm. If i was going to build another 6.5 hotrod i would build a 6.5-300 wsm.  :twocents:
You gonna draw those pistols or whistle Dixie?

:yeah: on the 6.5-300wsm. I bet you'd get pretty comparable velocity with a lot less powder.
