Looking for a local WPG
« on: January 26, 2016, 10:29:36 PM »
Looking for some advice on finding a local WPG breeder. I'm in SW Washington.

Any help would be appreciated.

Besides show dogs, there are no established kennels for Griffs anywhere local to you. Quite a few back yard breeders, or folks that have a litter every so often, but no established reputable kennel.

Thanks for the info. That's about what I figured but was hoping I was wrong!

I'll have to expand my search.

I never successfully found a top quality local breeder. I got mine from Idaho Wells Griffons.
http://www.idahowellsgriffons.com/home.html

I was referred to them by Larry Harkins at Idaho's Hunter Extreme Sporting Dogs after one of his litters didn't produce as many pups as he anticipated. Both of them breed true Korthals Griffons and are were highly recommended to me by others in the WPG community.

If you haven't been in contact with Carol Ptak, she's worth talking to. She's a little intense but she knows her stuff!

See if Dean Peterson is still raising them. He was located in Rochester

Thanks for all the info. I recently stumbled across Kiblan Griffs in St. Helens?? Not sure why they don't show up on the breeder sites anywhere. I wondered if anyone on here has heard of them and if you would recommend them or not.
