Right on man congrats.
It's not the size of the trophy that make's it a trophy.

You may just be one person in this world. But you may be the world to just one person.

I turned what I think was the same small cat loose three times before I gave up on the spot.
Hope yours isn't such a freeloader.

I was actually brainstorming all day about some way to tag it so I would know if I catch it again. Like maybe punch a hole in its ear somehow or have some way to stick it with a needle to put ink on the skin somehow (somewhere like the inner ear there isn't much hair so it's visible). Of course that requires manhandling the cat out of the cage somehow and that doesn't sound fun or feasible.  :yike: One easy way I think would work for just the season would be to attach a cordless shaver to a stick and shave off a little bit in a certain spot. Then you could easily know if you have caught that cat already. Not entirely sure if any of that is legal though.

That was my first thought but the weather was horrible today and that cat was soaked so I wasnt sure if any paint would even stick to him. If you give it good thick shot of paint I guess some would probably stick. Maybe I'll try that next time.

Colored hair spray.  You buy it at party stores.

Pretty sure the cat came back. Or at least another cat. I went to check that trap last night and found the door partially closed and the whole cage pushed aside a few inches. When I reset the trap the other night, I didn't realize one of those giant rocks I set beside the cage was in the way of the door. It was tripped and the door was stuck part way open. There was enough room for the animal to squeeze back out the door. :bash: I moved the rock and reset it so we will see if I get that cat again.
There was one spot where a skunk had stole all the bait out of my trap the other day and I set a skunk tube but when I checked the it yesterday, no animal. I'm sure he won't return til he gets done eating all the bait he stole. Probably three pounds worth of beaver meat so it might be a few days.

Well I caught the same cat again. More than likely that is what tripped the cage the other day when the door was stuck open. Its for the sure the same cat because on its face just on the edge of its left eye, there was a sore that was fresh and very visible when I caught it a few days ago. The sore is a little healed up today, I ended up pulling the trap and put it a few miles down the road. No point to keep catching and releasing the same cat over and over again.

When I released it the first time, it did the same thing. Just walked away like no big deal.
