Guiding on public land???

I have run into a few "Craigslist Guides" ( hint, hint red truck) that "guide" on WDFW land they do so under the radar in the Everett snohomish area we used to see them all the time & they were quite aggressive about the blinds they built and their right to use them no matter what. (on WDFW land).   Nothing that a gallon of Diesel won't fix.

I wonder if those are the same fly by night knuckleheads I ran into in the field :dunno:sounds like it. I'd hate to think there would be anymore outfits like that running loose in the area. They could really hurt future waterfowl hunting opportunity and mess things up for a lot of us

I can’t imagine that anyone would be willing to pay money to someone to guide them on WDFW land in Snohomish County.

I've never seen them that far south, but yes people pay them to take them to wdfw lands to hunt. It's just the clients are not hunters so they don't know better.

Washington currently has no hunting guide licensing. (the only western state I'm aware of that does not require licensing) A special use permit and liability insurance is required to operate on any federal lands in any state.

Also state land, per WAC 332-52-205, A person who uses department-managed lands for commercial purposes shall obtain a contract, lease, permit or other written authorization from the department.
For the purposes of this subsection and in the context of public use, "commercial purposes" means charging a fee of any type for access to department-managed lands or any use or activity on department-managed lands where the primary purpose is the sale or barter of a good or service, regardless of whether the use or activity is intended to produce a profit.[/size]
In order to get a permit for state land you must get a liability insurance policy that names the state as a beneficiary.
They wont approve unless you have a business licence and proof of insurance.
That is what they (DNR) told me.
They also made a huge point that the permit would be revoked if "the person's behavior unreasonably interferes with the recreational enjoyment of any other person."
So report the offenders and pretty soon they wont like taking there clients to places that are causing the issue.
Last thing I would ever want to do with a client would be to spend the good shooting times talking to the warden, I would rather show him a limit AFTER the hunt.
The officer probably already knows them, and has been watching, but nobody complained, and he cannot write a ticket for being a jerk, so without a complaint to investigate he watches for game violations. 
 So even if they were legal and had a permit, they would have no privilege of the blinds, Unattended blinds are available to the public on a “first-come-first-serve” basis.

I have not seen them in shohomish but oh, yes their is others, I really don't think the game wardens care that much in the snohomish every time I have called ( including world war III at 6 pm at night on public land ) no show

I have mixed feelings about guiding on public land/water. The Duck Taxi on Potholes Res for example has sure messed up a lot of peoples hunts simply by their constant running around in their motor boat from blind to blind every hour to collect dead/crippled birds all the while spooking everyone else's birds.
Also, covering a good area with numerous hunters is at times taking away spots from normal duck hunters. These 'clients' wouldn't otherwise be there if they weren't being guided. Many times these 'clients' are just there to shoot their guns a lot which is my experience. Ruining the day for others in the area because of the guides lack of educating his clients to ethics and the lethal range of a shotgun and the client's lack of experience.
I've also experienced some good guys/hunters being guided. Just my

If they are a joke then they are a bad one. And, yes they have pissed off a bunch of people. Multiple complaints were filed with WDFW enforcement this season, and nothing was done!!!!
This pisses people off even more.

Rumor from a reliable source has it that Teamducka$$h@!# was given a warning via phone call by enforcement. They continued their illegal guiding operation all season long after being warned. They are running a white pickup with a white decoy trailer behind it in addition to the wrapped truck.

Way to go Region 4 Enforcement! Nice to know you guys have our backs! Tired of the lip service!

Is the red pickup being referred to a Silverado Z71???

Not me. I haven't even hunted the Potholes in the last 5 years. Probably been close to 10. Three trips over there and all bad experiences. Might hit it next year if I can get over during the week a day or two. The weekends I tried were brutal. Between some bad apples(unethical hunters)and the Duck Taxi, my buddies and I left with a very sour taste in our mouths about the way the locals hunt it. I even got chewed out by a couple of locals because my license plate frame was from the west side.
