Deer camp traditions

What does every have or do? At our camp we have come up with several over the years. 1st, whoever didn't tag last year gets 1st pick of where he wants to be on opening morning. Then we have our big buck contest. $5.00 to get in and big buck wins. Then we all throw a few bucks in each to start the next pot. It is a missed shot pot. If you miss you throw 2 bucks in for each miss. We've always have had this set up to where long shot gets the pot but we're changing this year to closest shot gets the pot. That way we're not encouraging long shots if you can get closer. Then at camp we toast the successful hunter and his buck. Like to hear everyone eles.

Courvosier. Everyone gets a tiny sip off the bottle whenever we get meat in camp.
Liver fry. Gotta have a liver dinner the night of a kill.
*censored*faced. I usually get *censored*faced the night we get an elk in camp.
Edit: Oops, my bad, usually don't get *censored*tyfaced in deer camp, save the embarrassment for elk camp....

I take a huge drink of water and praise Jesus that I am finally there and that I didn't die getting there again this year.

Usually a candy bar, take my boots off for a minute and then wonder how I am going to find a place to sleep with no flat ground around!

I always save a piece of the best part of the deer and eat it the night before the opener to remind myself why I am out there. Backstrap or tenderloin.

After one is down and packed out. We eat like kings (backstraps or tenderloin) and then feel sorry for the other guys who have to get up early and try to hike with a full bloated belly.

During early archery elk, hike in 7 miles, unload my gear, then hike another 1/2 mile for 4 or 5 gallons of water to bring back to camp. Once in camp remember that I should have brought a flask of some celebratory type drink if I'm successful. So eat my freeze dried ice cream and call it a night. Deer and late elk it's much more fun!
