Crescent lake

Has anyone fished for walleye perch bass or crappie in crescent lake that is just south of potholes? I have fished a lot of soda lake and long lake but haven't hit crescent and just wondering if there's walleye or good walleye there.

That's the tricky part. They closes the access years ago. I think it is still closed. You need to run the canal from long lake. They should be starting the water within the next couple weeks. First canal to start up usually but potholes was a few feet lower than it has been the last couple of years and that's where the water comes from.

Yes it can be done, its a little scary the first time you do it, going down is worse than going up. lots of water, moving realllllly fast. As far as soda, its down probably 30 feet. You can only launch off the dam. All good structure in there is high n dry. Good time to look at it and see what you are fishing though. I would give it a couple weeks, maybe 3.

I drove by soda on my way home from work. The only way to get a boat in there is the rough ramp on the dam and only a smaller boat and you need 4 wheel drive. I have not been to long lake but It would have to be about the same with no water in the canals.

It would be difficult. You can drive down and look, I wouldn't launch my boat there quite yet. You can always fish potholes if you don't want to chance it. Me, I'm going to banks Thursday to give that a try. Soda in mid march.

The wife and i camped at Long lake last weekend and they havnt started to fill it yet so the water is about as low as it will get. In my opinion the boat launch is not an option there as it looks pretty muddy for a good 100 feet till you hit water.
Thus, the canal leading to Crescent is dry. However, a lot of people walk into Crescent and fish from the bank. When we left to come home Sunday around 1pm, there must have been 8-10 cars parked at the gate entrance.

A lot of those people walking in may have been fishing canal lake. From what I have heard, if true has been kicking out nice perch. It used to be trout only but I don't think that is the case any more.

That is the first canal to run, usually In early march. Everything else around march 25th give or take.
