I rifle hunt. I know the Dayton area really well. I just do that get the time to get out and scout a lot. THe chances of me drawing again in the next ten plus years is slim. So I really want a 350+bull. I'm willing to pay if some one can put me on one or point me in the right area.

Blue creek area is mostly private. So getting permission is hard

Then i think you are on track.  If that is the area that you know best and want to hunt and kill one there that is where you should hunt.

I only put in for 328, that is where my cabin is and where I want to hunt, no point in putting in for other areas that I could draw easier.  If I do get drawn some day it will be in the area I know and want to kill one.

Good luck on the draw for the next however many years it takes.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

I had 37 points several years ago, didn't West Wenaha that year.  I drew the following year with 38 points.  Sadly I ate my tag, passed a couple "smaller" bulls, heavy snows hit, I couldn't find a replacement bull, still sick over it.  But I'd do it again, and I'd do West Wenaha again definitely!   My :twocents:

With That many points I'd hold out for a rifle rut tag!

No negative waves from this hunter, your going to draw.  When you draw the Dayton tag this year do your scouting and knock a BIG BULL down.  Have fun and post your story when you get it done.

If I had 36 points I think I would apply with a friend so I'd have someone to hunt with :twocents:

I would not apply as a group. My brother and I drew quality bull tags this year as partners and it was tough trying to kill two good bulls. He killed his on day 18 and I killed mine on day 20. But after he killed his I was just going for a decent bull.

If I could hunt anywhere it would probably be the Wenaha East. Big country in there for bulls to grow up and get some age on them. Maybe even do muzzy instead of rifle so you can hunt the rut.

Regards, Branden

I would also stick to the rifle rut tags, should get the one your after. However you never know with the draw.

I don't think there's any rifle rut tags for the blues other than the raffle or auction tags.

There are some. Well, at least one, but it's all private ground.

Wow, ate a colockum sept tag??? That'd be tough, I seen a couple spots with some decent 350 and higher bulls during that time frame that I eyed but I had to break myself and concentrate on my tag. :chuckle:

It was archery not the rifle rut but yeah that was a tough one for him to swallow.  It happens, I don't think anything is ever a "gimme" or a "sure thing".
