New Mystery Ranch packs out. So bummed!
« on: February 27, 2016, 10:40:52 AM »
I've been saving up to buy a crewcab, and recently became interested in their new version the cabinet. I have been waiting months to buy a pack from them, only to see the newly updated website touting "made world wide" . 95% of my interest was the fact that they used to be made exclusively in the US, in MT. I see their guarantee hasn't changed to my knowledge but man, 99% of my hunting kit is american made and I hate the idea of buy a 500$ pack made in china. Anyone else feel a bit let down?

Yeah, I agree. I have an older MR pack, and its a great pack. I'm really disappointed in the changes they're making as a company.

I'm with you guys on the idea of American made products.  But the reality is a lot of high end gear just isn't made here at home, it sucks but that's just how it is.  My favorite two clothing gear companies are kuiu and firstlite, both of them have their clothes made out of country.  At least mystery ranch is still mostly US made.

Kifaru, Exo and Stone Glacier are made in USA, and in my opinion, are better packs.  There are others out there as well, Horn Hunter is one.

Tried on the new kifaru pack at the Utah show.   Very nice pack with 3rd generation backplate.  Adjustable load lifters are money.

Buy a used Kifaru, there are a couple on this site and plenty more over at the Rokslide website.  You won't have to save as long (or maybe at all) and you'll get it faster.
