High Lakes Fishing

Looking to explore some new lakes this spring and was hoping to get some suggestions on where to poke around.  Ive fished a couple hike in lakes in Chelan Co. but would like to learn some new places and would be willing to exchange info over PM's if anybody has intel they wouldnt mind sharing.

If you go into the WDFW website it will tell you what and when High Mtn Lakes were stocked.

Most decent sized lakes I have seen in the High country have some sort of fish in them. They may not be monsters but they sure are hungry and fun to catch. I once found a rooster tail in a tree with some line on it. Had no reel at the time but was able to toss it out and hand pull it back. Landed a 8 inch little cutthroat, was pretty awesome. One guy I know used to be a member of the Trail Blazers? or whatever one of the fish planting organizations is called.  He suggested checking out the WDFW site as well.  I think those groups have to stock them at least every 12 years or they no longer can stock them.  Id check to see what years they were planted if your looking to catch some nice fish.  He said they have caught fish up to 27in in some of the lakes.

Member of both the Highlakers and Trailblazers. Each lake can have a different stocking cycle and rarely are lakes stocked with a 12 year cycle. This is because most species only live 8 years and to have as stocked lake go 4 years without fish in it doesn't happen. Some lakes are stocked every year because of their popularity.

Wasn't saying they are stocked every 12 years.  I though a law was passed where if they didn't stock a lake within 12 years of the last time the lake could no longer be stocked.

Have not heard of such a law. Some lakes are naturally reproducing lakes. There are also some that were stocked became naturally reproducing and died off for whatever reason. Members can sponsor those lakes that they feel want to be stocked and with the ok from the WDFW biologist are allowed to be. Most stocking is done with CT, RB, Goldens, and some Tripods. Brookies are no longer stocked because of the way they reproduce and over run a lake.
