bears in swamps questions
« on: April 24, 2016, 08:41:09 PM »
Hey guys,

I was hunting this weekend and checked out a large swamp. There's great forage inside and I found some bear scat in the timber outside. I know that HuntWA loves pic of bear *censored*, so I attached one.

I was wondering though:
Does anybody have pictures of skunk cabbage that bears are feeding on? I saw some that was torn up, but I wasn't sure if it was bears.
Do bears ever feed in standing water? Most of this area was grass in 1-4 inches of water. Will the animals just be feeding on the dry areas?

Thanks

I kill most of my bears in soggy wet stuff.

skunk cabbage is a primary food source for bears this time of year. They prefer the white parts lower on the stalk and often you'll find it pulled out with leaves intact. They will also feed in standing water regularly. Bears tolerate seriously crappy terrain to get food.
