Wow 100 grains of powder vs. Pellet is such a difference. Maybe not accounting for air? Is this how it should look? I am a noob  :D

Yep. Looks right to me! I think the pellets are compressed.

Ya seems about the size of powder without air gaps.

Craig, you need to know that a two 50 grain T7 Pellets is not equal to 100 grains of loose T7 in power/velocity produced.  Two 50 grain T7 Pellets are approximately equal to 100 grains of most Black Powders and the Pyrodex Powders and Pellets.

85 grains of loose T7 is approximately equal to (in power/velocity) to 100 grains of most real BP's, Pyrodex and either two 50 grain Pyrodex Pellets or two T7 Pellets.

Hodgdon also produces a second type of pellet called - T7 Magnum pellets (60 grain pellets)

Quote
The newest entry in muzzleloading from Hodgdon Powder Company is the Triple Seven 50 caliber, 60 grain Magnum Pellets. With two Triple Seven Magnums you can acheive an additional 200-250 fps. In 26" in-line barrels this will normally result in muzzle velocity of approximately 2,000 fps. Packed 50 Pellets to the box.

Hope some of this makes sense...
Keep shooting muzzleloaders - They are a blast!!

I always understood that 100 gr of pellets were the same as 80 grs. of loose powder. The pellets have fillers and binders to hold them together. I've never used pellets so I can't run them over a chrony to check this.

100 grains of Pellets (2 - 50's) are about equal to 80/85 grains of loose T7-2f powder.  But are very close to 100 grains of Pyrodex and/or regular black powders, Other than Swiss black Powder which is a very hot powder like T7.  I have been reading that 'Old Eynsford' powder by GOEX is also in the mix with Swiss and T7.  But, I have never shot it so I can not verify that at all.

Keep shooting muzzleloaders - They are a blast!!
