8 for me.

Points are no guarantee but the math proves you have a better mathematical chance with more points.
OIL hunts are all together a different category since everybody stays in until they draw
Which makes it really tough draw odds.

Do I win at 23 for bull and quality bull?!!! It's actually sad when draw results come out for bull and I have not drawn with 60 tags or so. Pretty sure I'm number 1 in points for the unit.
If you can see it....... you can shoot it.

Looks like majority are drawn between 10-15 points..would be interesting to see how this has changed over the years

23 for both is pretty good, two poachers caught!  I had 20 last year for my bull permit and missed it by 1 tag, I was the first loser for that tag. Counting on it this year but you never know, good luck.

Having 20+ points is no assurance of drawing a quality permit because of the large number of applicants with fewer points.

The following graph depicts the “number of names in the hat” for the Dayton modern permit hunt 2006 in 2014. There were two applicants with 22 points.  Each one had 484 (22 squared) names in the hat; together they had 968 names in the hat.

There were 61 applicants with 11 points each. Each had 121 names in the hat so the total number of names in the hat by applicants with 11 points was 7,381.

It is therefore evident that it is more likely that someone from the pool of 61 applicants with 11 points will draw than someone from the pool of two applicants with 22 points, simply because there are so many more of them.

The other fact to consider is that draw odds for applicants with fewer points increase at a more rapid rate than applicants with more points. Someone with one point has one name in the hat, but next year he will have four: a 300% increase. Conversely, the applicant with 22 points has 484 names in the hat this year, and 529 next year: an increase of only 9%.

I enjoyed that poll
Get out of here with your 25 points!  We don't need your kind around here!

its a factor when you pick your friends .....
Good call! Both times I have drawn elk permits I've been the higher point holder.  :chuckle: maybe I need better friends!

How many points you got... Buddy?  :tung:
Coach doesn't like to build up too many point, so he draws every other year :chuckle:
