Happy birthday to me!
« on: March 27, 2016, 06:17:45 PM »
Went to REI the other day as I had a 20% off coupon and a gift card I got for my B-day from my father in law. I seem to have enough gear for a small outdoors store myself so it's usually pretty rare that I actually find a few things that I want or need.
First item was this sweet little inflatable pillow. Weighs 4oz and is super soft and fuzzy. I got the large one. They make a small one as well at 2oz. I've never had a backcountry pillow before, I usually just wad up whatever sweatshirt or jacket I was wearing and use that, but at 4oz, I thought I'd give this a go. Blew it up and dang! It's awesome!
2nd item is this sweet little camp chair. Weighs just a hair over a pound and packs up pretty small.. I'm a big guy (6'3 215lbs) and this chairs seems pretty solid. Again, just another thing I never bring. I always just find a log or just sit on the ground... With my coupon and gift card, I didn't spend a dime.. Lightweight pack gear sure is coming a long way!

i used to do the same thing with clothes to act as a pillow.
after waking up with a sore neck or barely sleeping for far too many nights, i now ALWAYS bring my little inflatable pillow.
you will love it.  definitely worth the couple of oz's.

Yep, seems the older I get the more my neck bugs me sleeping on the ground. My pile of clothes pillow ends up a flat mess in no time and I wake up sore or worse, with a wicked headache from my neck.. So stoked I found this little pillow..

Recently bought two of those chairs for the girlfriend and I, got them on a screaming deal, clearance price + 20% off, I got the two for damned near the price of one at regular price.  Pillow is next on the list, but the girlfriend is in charge of that.

Pillow has easily been moved up from luxury item to necessity on my backcountry trips. Sleep so much better at night when I have it along.

Yes the chair. Mid November nights in snow just sitting at the fire dodging smoke make you feel almost human and packed into the FC like a king.
