Charlie is a very good taxidermist on here, I also think Rainer taxidermy in graham is very good! Natures way has been getting good reviews as well.

Just got my daughters mount back and I am less than excited. I need to see if I can find one to fix it.

I appreciate the attention to detail that Charlie's Taxidermy puts into his Blacktails. He has mounted several for our family and friends in the last few years and they all look amazingly lifelike.

I have a BT at Charlie's right now.  I have a friend of a friend w/a house full of Taxidermy who lives in Oregon, I was visiting and asked about a BT and a mule deer that both really stood out from the other mounts and the guy said: they were both done by a guy from up in your country.  That's how I learned about Charlie.

:yeah: Don't want to take anything away from the others, but I saw a couple mounts in Oregon that were just "speaking to me."  When I ask who?  The owners said it is a guy from your country named Charlie Smith, he is in Tenino.

Looks as though all the major players are represented in this thread.  All of them mentioned do exceptional blacktail work. No doubt my uncle Jack Page (Mineral Lake Taxidermy) represents the blacktail species well with the highest level of artistry.

In the past he has shoulder mounted a Columbian and a Sitka black-tail as well as an Entiat mule deer for me.  When he semi-retired from doing shoulder mounts back in fall of 2014 he agreed to mount one more quality Sitka BT for me prior to retiring fully from shoulder mounts. Soon after I had called him from AK, caped out the deer head; and told him I was transporting it home he broke the news that he had to steer me elsewhere.  For what its worth, the person who impressed him most, trusted, and recommended to finish out my Sitka BT was someone listed here several times.....Charlie's Taxidermy.

Obviously he didn't have to twist my arm.  The cape has been at Charlie's shop ever since.  Tick Tock, Tick Tock.   Can't wait!
If you go straight long enough you'll end up where you were.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good Blacktail taxidermist?

Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

There's a Taxidermist in Ridgefield wa that is supposed to be awesome...  Alot of guys that spend BIG MONEY hunting AK, Africa etc use him..  To this date I haven't seen anyone in Cowlitz or Lewis County worth a crap.  There is a guy in Forrest grove oregon thats good too.  I much prefer a skull mount myself.   Skull mounts always look better longer.  :twocents:

Rainier Taxidermy does excellent work, I've taken every deer to him along with my dad and brother. Have him do your meat too, he will do just as good a job as the mounts

Limits, it's nice to know jack personally steered you that way your uncle has done so many BT for our family, it's nice to know he finally hung up it completely but sucks at the same time. He will have plenty of time now to chase those monsters that he always talked about..
