Clam digging tips for Long Beach

Any one have any tips on where to dig clams at Long Beach? Any help appreciated. Thank you in advance.

On the beach 

Really anywhere can be good. Go in at ocean park approach and head down the beach. Get there at least an hour before low tide (sooner or later depending on how low of a tide it is).

While you're driving look out and see if people have clams in their nets. Good indicator there's some clams there and the tide is out far enough.

They say "the further north on the beach the bigger the clam"... Shouldn't have a problem getting good clams anywhere. It's been some good digging lately.

Go to the north end.  I go just north of the last entrance and before the creek.  I heard it's better father north but it should be good with this weekends tides.  What days are you going?

Get there at least 3 hours before low tide.
I was there yesterday, pulled onto beach and drove a few hundred yards and parked.
Kids played in the sand, and had lunch while I walked the waveline keeping an eye on the sand...
As soon as we saw the first "show" it was about 45 minutes before I had 90 clams (4 kids and 2 adults) in my cooler and on my way home at 4:00.
Other people were just getting there, as low tide was not until 5:00.
This was from the beach access right in the middle of town.
