Is 60 lumens enough?
« on: April 12, 2016, 08:48:22 AM »
I'm looking at getting a headlamp, and camofire has some pop up pretty regularly.  It seems like they have a good deal on a princeton tec headlamp, but it's only 60 lumens.  I was thinking around 90 would be better.

What do ya'll think?

Spend the money for a 300 lumen or more you'll be much happier especially when your safety depends on it.  Led lenser etc.

Depends on your night vision capabilities. I use the pTec Sync which offers 90 lumens. It is much more than enough for me but I have pretty good night vision and really only use the red light.

Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

120 minimum and more is awesome.

Depends on your need.

Fewer Lumens is better for me where I sneak in.   I shroud my 90 lumen light by hand down to probably 25% when I'm sneaking in.

I have been using the Black Diamond Icon for a few years now and love it.

I went this route so all my batteries are the same for interchangeability and for backups.

A feature I have absolutely have come to love is the red light that I use both for reading and sometimes navigation.  Both the white light and red light are dimmable that I have found nice.  The battery life is amazing.

Lumens 320 and again dimmable down to nil.

Had good luck with the 200 lumen Costco ones.  $5 each.  Yah I know sounds like junk but nice bright lights.

I'd go more then 100 lumens but I'd stick with Princeton Tec. They are made in USA.  I have the Vizz which is 200 lumens and has worked well for me but it is only two years old.

Alright guys help me out.  Why does somebody need a headlamp over 100 lumens?  I feel like I am in the twilight zone here  :dunno:
