Toyota Tacoma Leaf Spring Recall
« on: April 16, 2016, 05:56:00 PM »
A long time ago, we were talking about the rear leaf spring sag on certain Toyota Tacoma's, and the fact Toyota was coming out with a recall. That recall is now open to be completed. Parts are on a very limited supply due to the quantity of vehicles that will be getting fixed, so call your local dealerships and get your name on the list for parts.

Are the 2015 models included in the recall?

The recall notice that I've been sitting on says "Certain 2005-2011 Model Year Tacoma Pre-Runner and 4x4 Vehicles Rear Leaf Spring"

I hadn't heard they've finally come out with the recall (been getting the damn "we know something wrong but dont know how to fix it" letter for over a year now). Good to know thanks!

I've been getting the 'You told us there was a problem in 2010 and we told you Toyota doesn't make defective products so you replaced them yourself and now we will find every new and creative reason to deny your reimbursement claim even though you included receipts and have detailed records going back to 2010' letter.
Un-frickin-believable.

Sure will be nice to get rid of the 2 inches of sag and 200lb hauling limit.
I'm hesitant to think that this will be a simple process with my past experience dealing with a certain stealer ship and customer service.
Anyone have suggestions on a dealership in Western Wa? I'm in North Bend and refuse to go to Bellevue.

Do you have an RO (repair order) from the dealership stating you NEED new rear leafs AND rear shocks?
Get that documentation stating very clearly the need and then get a pair of OME Dakar leafs, remove the 3rd leaf to reduce the lift, a pair of Bilstein 5100s for shocks, and pay a couple hundy to have them installed, then submit the claim to Toyota and wait for the fun to begin.
Honestly, the parts I mentioned are wayyyy better than what Toyota thinks are springs and shocks.
