'States rights'... what an inflammatory concept

http://thewesterner.blogspot.com/2016/04/flake-mccain-call-for-revised-mexican.html

Washington, DC– U.S. Sens. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) today introduced the Mexican Gray Wolf Recovery Plan Act to direct the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) to publish the first revised recovery plan for the Mexican gray wolf in Arizona and New Mexico in 34 years. As a result of the 1982 Mexican Gray Wolf Recovery Plan, an experimental population of wolves were placed in Arizona and New Mexico and since that time, land owners and public officials have voiced concern about the program.

This legislation would require that the USFWS work with state and local entities to ensure they have input in the drafting of a new recovery plan. In addition, if the USFWS does not comply with the plan, then Arizona and New Mexico are able to supplement or assume management of the recovery process. This bill also includes a provision that would require automatic delisting of the Mexican gray wolf as an endangered species once conservation goals have been reached....

Key word is "work"  which in DC Cartel language is "do as you are told OR else"!! :yike: :bash:

If all the State's have some form of Fish and Wildlife agency's, WHY do we need a Federal one!!?? :dunno:

Its called "redundancy"  or better known as "wasting tax dollars"!

Is it me or does anyone else notice the subtle change in name over time. First it was mexican red wolf, when they needed a distinct population to cram this through, now its mexican grey wolf...

Kindof reminds me of the radio ads when als auto supply became schucks and then orielies. During the buyout they would say both names in the radio jingle and the phase out the previous company.

Migratory animals which travel interstate. Also enforcement of the federal laws protecting wildlife, Like the Lacey Act. I agree that there are certain things, like this one, which should be left up to the people who are most affected by them. I also agree the the USFWS have become inundated with the tree huggers and anti-hunters, much like our own DFW. But I disagree they're completely redundant. Were it up to me to fix, I would re-staff (read: fire everyone) the USFWS, revamp the ESA, and severely limit the scope of their responsibility to wildlife management problems related to a lack of cooperation between the states sharing certain populations. I would also continue having them perform the busts on Lacey and like laws, but with a keen eye to avoiding the laws being used abusively to justify throwing away due process, as has been done with Lacey.
