Garmin GPs

I have been looking at getting a handheld Garmin GPS unit to use for hunting and am looking at recommendations between the garmin 64st and the garmin oregon 600t. Cabelas has the 64st on sale for $279 and sportmans warehouse has the oregon 600t on sale right now for $299. So prices are fairly similar. Functionality, reliability and usability are important factors for me.

Any recommendations and pro and cons for each would be appreciated. Thanks

I have the 62s and really like it. Easy to use and been great over the last few years. I would think the 64 would be just as good or better.

I had a Oregon 450 and just picked up  a Montana 650.Both touch screens and you can download satellite photos both are great and easy to use the 600 you are talking about is pretty much the same

I haven't used the ones you're looking at, but I've used Garmin for many years and have always been happy.

This link has a good summary of the garmin choices. Ignore its a map vendor its an unbiased comparison of the models.  I like the Rhino with a phone-app backup but the oregon 600 is a good gps.  I like having something other than just my phone ( no u don't need cell service with the right app).

so if your going to go garmin, why not go with a rino and get transmission capabilities too? Cabelas often has a rino deal on them and if you get with others who have, you can double down.. all accept the map chips too..

Agree birddog, Cablea's has the Rino 650's right now for $349.  They are nice when you have those not to good in the woods so you know where they are and can get them out... haha....

I do also have a couple 610's and now one of them is not loading the maps.  I'll probably send that back to Garmin and see if they can figure out why that one is crapped up.  The 650's though ROCK!!
