Be sure to read the rules that go along with it, I believe you have to use the weapon of the time for the unit you are in, there are very few rifle hunts in Sept.

But between seasons he can use which ever correct  :dunno:

Should be able to hunt with a rifle September 1-9 and again September 23-30.

What a great opportunity for your son!

Congrats to your son, you two have a blast!  The following is just for fun ....

I say get a disabled hunter permit and take the elk incentive permit.  September 1 drive over to Ellensburg, get the WDFW employee directory, and just call and record until you get someone to say yes you can kill a branched bull on the Colockum from your truck with those permits.  Roadhunt a big bull before the seasons, and if anyone gives you guff tell them those permits make it your U&A area and you are exercising your rights.

I talked with f&g and they confirmed that you can use any weapon in between the special seasons. He can hunt with a rifle muzzle loader or bow starting 9-1 and hunt until the archery quality hunt starts. Only with his bow then during the archery hunt.

Congrats on the tag for your son
I also drawn the same tag
Had choice between deer and west side
Elk
Tough decision on what tag to pick
I have taken a big bull 7x7
Still waiting for my big deer after 40+
Years
Not that I haven't gotten nice deer
Just not my wall mount yet
Have been just a meat hunter
Can't eat the horns anyway
For me choice was for the deer
I had drawn multiseason elk tag
Also drawn cow tag and second deer
Along with my dad's cow tag and second deer
It's Going to be a busy season  :IBCOOL:
