Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. is the NWTF’s 10-year initiative to:

1. Conserve or enhance 4 million acres of critical upland habitat

We’re bringing focus to our conservation delivery by identifying areas of habitat that provide the most positive impact for wildlife.

2. Create 1.5 million hunters

We’re securing the future of the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation by increasing the number of hunters, who pay for 80 percent of wildlife conservation through excise taxes on guns, ammunition and more.

3. Open access to 500,000 additional acres for hunting

Because lack of access to hunting lands is a main reason people stop hunting, we’re ensuring there’s opportunity for everyone to find a place to go.

As part of the NWTF State board we are working on a strategic plan to help with education and outreach of new hunters here in Washington.  In doing so we are looking to compile some information to help us make better decisions on how we go about meeting this goal.   We will be presenting this information at our State board meeting next weekend.  Any positive constructive comments would be appreciated.  Here are some questions..

1. What got you interested in hunting and the outdoors?
2. What type of outdoor information events interest you?  Do you go to the sportmen's shows? Cabela's events? Ect.
3. How big of a role does social media play in your decision on what events to go to?
4. Would you got to an event where all these different non profits (NWTF, Rocky Mountain, Ducks Unlimited, Ect) came together to showcase a little about their part of hunting and to learn about them?
5.  In your opinion what would you think the best way to recruit new hunters?

We are also looking at strategic plans for land access to hunters and partnerships with other agencies and NGO's (non-government organizations) in the state of Washington.

The NWTF is not just about turkeys anymore.  We are working towards that building of the 1.5 million new hunters and gaining access to lands to hunt.  Enhancing turkey habitat isn't just for turkeys it helps out many more species of game animals.

I am looking for some great input from everyone here.  Thanks for your help.
