My youngest son (10) and I were up on Stormy Mtn yesterday (Slide Ridge Unit) and found a buck already out past his ears!

New member to the group, I've been checking it out for a while seems to be a great place to talk about the outdoors. I finally drew slide ridge quality archery after 13 years. It's been a long time since I've been in that area. I've had some people help me with a starting point. Really excited about learn a new area. Any additional help would be great.

Hello Grade,
my youngest daughter who is 13 yrs old drew the Manson quality buck tag. We'll be scouting the area soon, mainly the road system, checking drainages. She has 1 buck under her belt, and she will be trying for number 2. If you have any recommendations on the area, we would appreciate it. Probably be heading up there next week to scout and maybe fish Antilon Lake.

Pygmy,

Congrats!!!! She drew an awesome tag! And she WILL get another buck! PM me for details on exactly where I would go in Nov. For now, for scouting, you will find there are very few roads, don't be too discouraged, as it's a game changer in Nov with the snow and rut. Take the lower (Grade Creek) road in and out of the many draws (creek drainages) and when you get to Os Peak road take it up to the top and then at the top take a left and go all the way to South Navarre, down Nelson Butte and Falls Creek where you will eventually come back to the junction you went up to Os Peak and then drive out the lower road again. On day two or that evening, head up towards antilon lake and depending on if they opened the road from the fire last week, take the Joe Creek Road up (it's a big intersection just before you hit the snowmobile park before antilon lake) and stay to the right at the first intersection (the new fire/burn is on your left) and then stay on the main road (you will come to another intersection a few miles up, the road to the right is a dead end a couple of miles in...but one to remember) and eventually you will come to a junction that will lead to Cooper mtn, take the right as stay right, which will take you across the ridge top by Echo Valley (eventually you will run into mt bikers as they really promote this area for biking now) and come to Echo Valley ski hill, you can drop down and come out onto some backroads by Manson in the apple orchards, just keep heading downhill and eventually you will come out to the Manson/Chelan highway...

That should keep you busy for scouting and learning the area...for now! I'll be in Idaho during your hunt but my Dad will be home and would be super excited to take you out and show you around during the hunt, plus he has a place where you can hang your deer if needed or if you break down he can help out...he lives for this stuff, just ask Eli346 on here at Hunt-Wa.
