Yeah, cats are full of platinum, so crackheads will often steal them, or even just cut a hole in them and try to hollow them out...Can't stand a friggin thief.

Call your insurance company. We replace them through insurance a fair amount. If it's not insurance, call an exhaust shop and see if they can put a sleeve over the cut pipe and weld or replace it with an aftermarket. It will be loads cheaper.

I don't think Salvage yards can sell used catalytic converters for install on vehicles. Not saying some don't

Had one cut out of my Toyota, heard they are a common target. Pretty crappy feeling heading to your pickup and seeing the exhaust pipe hanging down, cut off!

Been awhile since I've heard anyone getting a cat stolen. Best advice I heard was to park over a puddle whenever possible. Not always an option, but makes your rig less appealing to people who crawl underneath them.

Thank the dope fiends AND the recyclers buying scrap from them.

The east side boat ramp at American Lake was really bad for having "cats" cut off. I pulled in to launch, and the Pierce County Sherif was there. Six rigs got hit.
Shortly after that they setup a sting and caught a few meth maggots, seemed to help cut down on the problems for awhile.

That seems steep for just the cat. I blew mine out on my full size gmc seirra hd. Dealership charged me $350 to put a new one on.

That's dirt cheap. I can't even get a cheap aftermarket one done for that price. I wonder if they sent it out to a muffler shop for you? There's literally no way a factory cat was that cheap.

Yes it was surprising to me too. First bid I got from a place in Redmond was $1200 for flange back.
Called dealership (dont remember which one, bellevue?) And they took it out & had a shop weld a new cat on. I dont remember if it was OEM, but probably not.
I knocked a peice of the baffle loose by flooring it. That truck had alot of torque.
