I hunt online on every classifieds I can find I craigslist other states and have stuff shipped or picked up by friends. Ask my wife I spend too much time doing it but it's better than facebook.

Im not as good as you are about shopping all the deals, but I'm on multiple hunting forums for the same reason, getting some good classified deals.. Nice scores though man! I think I've dropped 4-5 lbs with a new BA tent and Mountain Hardware down bag. Can't wait to get out there. Less than 3 weeks for me now..

Yeah no matter the gear the view and the solitude are in order every year. My pack started at 95 pounds 4 years ago when my kid talked into going. Last year I had it down to 60.
Can't justify spending high dollar for stuff I only use a couple of time a year.

My first year of backcountry hunting, I went on multiple 5-7 day trips. My pack avg'd 80-90 lbs. now for a 10 day pack in hunt I'm about 55lbs without water.. For 3 day trips im right about 26lbs..
I didn't want to spend the high dollars for Ultrlite gear either, so I started looking for quality used gear. So many people think they're going to be backcountry hunters, they go out once and decide, "Nope this isn't for me" and then sell there gear to me at a nice discount.

Nice job on the weight loss and great strategy  Out of curiosity what items do you change from 3 day to 10 day? Or is that strictly food weight?

Yep, usually food and a little more clothes. I usually bring a tarp for my longer trips too (nice to sit out of the rain and not be couped up in my tent all day) and I usually bring my Sven Saw for firewood on the longer trips.
