Fire ten caps in a row before you take it to the range ...It should fire ten in row or there is an issue ..."unloaded" stick a patch on a ram rod push it all the way to the breech pop ten musket caps ...mine fired 6+ out of ten CVA admitted to have soft breech / nipple assembly ...after they sent me a proto type and two new updated breech assemblies I still had and issue of the rifle shooting with what i call a slap bang ...aka hang fire ...I  am curious if these two issues have been resolved ...and slap bang is unacceptable at any level...So far as the rifle it shoots lights out it groups at two hundred yards ...easy to clean awesome in every way except reliable ignition.....Yes I fixed mine by have a machinist tighten the gap between firing pin and nipple...

May be a dumb question but what is a "hang fire"

Pulling the trigger and nothing happens, then suddenly the gun fires.

Shot #3 would be a great example of a hang fire and his handling of it a poor example.

Do you have the updated two piece breech plug with the harder steel nipple?  Getting the updated BP helped this for me considerably.  I still have had fail to fires occasionally, but I have determined that those are due to the outside of the nipple getting dirty after many shots and me not making sure the caps are seated all the way.  The caps fit pretty tight on the nipple and it doesn't take much sooty build up to keep the caps from seating well.  I have started cleaning my nipple with a damp patch at the same interval I run a patch down the barrel (usually every 2 to 4 shots).  I haven't had a cap fail to fire since I started doing that.

oh man, I want one of these SO bad! I bought a optima v2, then they came out with this one like 6 months later. I think next summer I will probably end up getting the nitride accura, and selling off my backup wolf.
