I'm down in San Diego working another 7 months on my contract.. Only a 7 hour drive from my place.. Can't wait to get back up and be chasing Blacktails! Figured I might as well enjoy the mulie hunting while I'm down here..

Bring your rain gear!  Monsoons have been hitting real hard the past couple of weeks in the Phoenix area!  That said, I'll probably be stepping out at least once or twice to see what this late summer hunting is all about down here.  Good luck, hope whack a toad!

Yeah, thanks for the heads up man.. I'm praying the monsoons stay away. The place I'm planning on hunting is going to be next to impossible to get to if it's super wet and flooded.. Fingers crossed.. Good luck to you too!

Oh good. I saw your location as Seattle and got a little worried for how you were planning on accomplishing that. That sounds much more manageable lol good luck on the hunt, sounds like it should be a blast.

Hey man, sorry for the delay, just saw this.. So I had a great time on my solo hunt. Saw a few deer, no bucks, but the weather was crazy! Thanks to google earth I was able to find my camp spot in the dark as I got a late start and had to make a large detour to buy my actual tag at a Walmart!
I had thunder, lightning, flash flood rains, super hot weather and windy dusty as well!
My GPS wasn't working (I've since replaced) but I had a pretty good idea of the lay of the land from my couch scouting on google earth.. Never shot an arrow, but had a blast. I'm actually headed back out in a few weeks to hunt a little pre-rut action. It will be interesting to see how the same area looks in a different season.  I did run into a few guys driving in a jeep that said they were seeing bucks all day long a few miles further up the canyon, so i think I'm going to hunt that area this next time. It's about 4 miles further up this horrible dirt road.. I've marked a few waypoints on my GPS from Google earth to hunt so I'm pretty stoked! Hopefully a little less rain this next time out!
