Elk tree stand prep question

My Oregon elk hunt starts on the 27th of August. I have two stands set which have cameras on them as well as trace salt that was put out in early July. I am not able to be down there until around 2:00 am of opening day but my dad is going down a few days early to set camp and check my cameras. My question is if I should have him toss down a pound or two of fresh salt at my stands or just let it be? My thought was that it would cover his scent a bit as well as get a little fresh smell in the air. Thoughts or suggestions?

I bought a book on tree stand hunting elk off elknut's site that goes over the pros & cons in detail. 

BTW, it is really a well written book and worth every cent I paid for it.

I always keep fresh salt going, no matter what time of year. It gets them to stop long enough to run an arrow through them. 

Im hunting a waterhole with fresh salt at 30 yds exactly from ground blind..  Come on Aug 27

Great book and really delves into the what and why of stand locations.  Worth every Penny..

From the book the author has not found my difference in salt vs no salt.  It will not bring more animals to it, it may or may not keep them coming back or hangning around.  If dad will be there pulling cams, can't hurt to drop a little more salt down.  Also have him slip a fresh card/batteries in, always nice to see what has been around the few days before you got there....

Author also recommends 20-30ft up in tree if possible, to help limit scent that might reach ground level.

Yes he will check the cards and reset. We are hoping to decide which stands to sit in and when based on the pics as well as weather conditions.
