high country hunts

hey guys, im curious about these high hunts that are on the list. particularly the lake Chelan one since its the closest(ish). is it even remotely possible without a horse? or a boat even to run up the lake. are there any good numbers that I can call (ranger stations etc ) about the weather conditions up there right now? any and all info would be muchly appreciated

Totally possible to hike into them. Lots of folks do. Weather changes quickly in the high country. Wind, extreme sun, chilly nights, rain showers etc.

That's good to know.    I figured weather change would be a factor.   From the 30 minutes of Google mapping, can you park at South creek campground or is that trail inaccessible by truck

Are you talking about South Creek along the Twisp River?

I agree, you can backpack in or just day hunt in the Wilderness or Lake Chelan Recreation area.  Packing out your camp and game can be a chore.
The archery season opens Sept. 1 and the high hunt Sept. 15 so today's weather doesn't really affect much.  If it stays hot and dry you can expect the bucks to be high and on the north side where the browse stays greener and temps. cooler.

thanks man, it will probably be a day or two up there    probably 3 if we can get away with it.   I'm trying to get some time in out here before I go back to Michigan for a few weeks and will be missing early muzzle out here
