Congratulations, Jim, I've been pretty shy about seriously trying to kill another elk since 2007 - had to leave that one in the field to waste, barely got myself out 11 hours later, heart attack and mini stroke.  I've had chronic angina along with the six stents (last one in 2012), I'm hoping to draw a similar opportunity for one last bull.
Draw the tag and I'm there for all of it Beau!  I specialize in calling, spotting, deboning or quartering.  I skin, I cape, I always keep a large supply of diet mtn dew and jalapeño cheddar dip.  You gotta bring your own damn chips though!   :chuckle:

DOUBLELUNG, this hunt really got me to thinking about the medical issues that some of us carry into the woods. The concerns we have are serious, but we refuse to not live our passion of hunting. I think after the seasons are over we should start a thread and learn from each other's issues. I am sure there are some good ideas that we can share.  I know I will start the quest again next year with trying to get another bull tag. I learned from this hunt what I will do next time to be better prepared physically.

He has goat feet!  Pepsi products notwithstanding he's a solid egg on hooking folks up.  I'm proud to say he's my friend.

Heck of a bull Jim.

:yike: holy smokes what a bull nice.
"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter

Appreciate it Karl!  Diet Dew is my favorite nonalcoholic beverage, and jalapeno cheddar can never get old.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

I think that thread is a great idea!  Just found out today my early ML hunts just got jacked for another heart cath Friday.
