Western Washington Elk Info.
« on: September 08, 2016, 11:51:23 AM »
Hey guys, I've been here in Washington for 2 years now and have been deployed for both seasons. I have not had the opportunity to do much scouting and I'm trying to find some great places for elk anywhere on the western side. I get not wanting to post your hot spots out in the open for everyone to see so a message would be awesome and I promise I'll only be here for the 2016 season  :(. I'm also trying for some black tail and maybe even a black bear. Any help would greatly appreciated and I'd be willing to return the favor for anyone looking for tips for hunting near Louisiana/Mississippi for anything from whitetail to monster hogs and gators.  Oh yea almost forgot, I'll be bow hunting.  Thanks! :)

That's exactly the case. Myself and a friend plan on looking for BT on Friday and trying to follow any good elk leads on Saturday. Between work and family I'm pretty much stuck to hunting the weekends and areas on the peninsula in the evenings during the week. I'm not opposed to camping on the weekend even it causes some trouble with the misses.(   :bdid:  )

Hey Wulzey, sorry I don't have any good non-draw Westside elk info for you. However, if you're looking for archery blacktail on the peninsula there's a fair amount of state land around Belfair with plenty of Blacktail.  I haven't hunted there myself, but have seen quite a few deer around while out in the woods.  Drive around Belfair-Tahuya road and you'll find public places.  The blacktail can be like ghosts, but they're in there.

Yea definitely, I saw quite a few black tail in that area before the season was open, but you know how it is, every deer has opening day marked on their calendar.
