I hear one everytime I go to bed..lol...I can't stop thinking about the GOBBLE!  :chuckle:

Haha. I've heard them gobble in January and February before, but its not the lusty gobble of spring. I think they get confused. I saw 5 longbeards the other day next to the paved road, gave them the most god awful cackle any human could muster, and all they did was pick up their heads, look at me for a sec, then go back to scratching. We got another month and I can't wait.

they've been gobbling like crazy in the southeast since atleast january 10th. they go at it pretty good to my redbones locator bark. pretty funny watching them holler back and forth.

Yep they can gobble all year...This time of year is when the toms start figuring out who's boss...the pecking order starts.  You'll see toms chasing eachother, fighting and then they will start dividing hen groups.. and moving off of the wintering areas.
