Jumping blacktails

Yesterday I was hiking through a clear cut bear hunting and I kept jumping blacktails that would go 30 yards then stare at me. anybody ever bow hunt this way with any success? I could have filled my archery tag yesterday if I didn't have my rifle on me

Pretty sure a lot of September bucks are killed this way. Majority muleys and blacktail a would be my guess.

Had lots of good luck jumping and chasing them around through 15-20' high jack firs.

Yup, I've killed them that way. Not as satisfying as executing a perfect stalk, but if they want to cooperate I'm not going to argue.

Bumped a doe from her bed today in small reprod.  She didn't go far, so I beat cleats to get ahead of her and caught her sneaking out of hiding with two fawns.  I let her walk - I'm not ending the season this early with a doe.  Moments later, she caught my movements and starts squawking and blowing loudly as she runs off another 70 yards.   Crazy noises like a fawn in distress bleat, over and over.  She let her fawns bed and stood guard for another 45 minutes in plain sight at 120 yards.  Fun, but no bucks to arrow.

yeah they would do that for me until hunting season then they wouldnt stop until about 100 yard and keep the distance.

I have done that a few time.  Typical method how I would get them during rifle season.  We would position people and do a push where we know they like to bed.

Sometimes they just make a few jumps and if they think they are hidden they will stop. Just keep watching for movement ahead of you, and most times you will spot them again.
