On the verge of another panic buy???
« on: September 26, 2016, 04:24:06 PM »
Seems like the market has been fairly stable for a while but how will the upcoming election change that? If a guy wasn't already stocked up should he consider doing so?

You can't go wrong buying an AR right now, as prices are still relatively low. Worst case is you don't use it.

#1 ammo any time there is a sale. #2 mags any time there is a sale. #3 %80 lowers find a good deal and buy in bulk. #4 bolt carrier groups they seem to have been scarce. #5 pin kits cheap.

BTW Midway USA  is doing a 24 hrs  today sale seller and ballot 250rnd buckshot $90 tyd

Ammo. That is the back door to gun control. Dry up the ammo with taxes and regs and we all then own high priced clubs instead of guns. You can buy spare pins and bolts if you want but how many of those have you ever replaced now?  Really you won't need those before you need ammo and ammo will be like currency in a crisis. For use, and for barter. Ammo!

Now is the time to buy an AR, AK or high cap magazine.

If AG Ferguson gets an initiative to voters then it will pass thanks to King county.

Get one now before the official announcement. ARs have good resale value regardless of what happens.

If you're deficient in any area I would start up now. With less than a month till the election, you don't have time to wait for discounted sales.  No matter who wins between (a) the dumpster fire and (b) the steaming bag of dog poo, the precedent for the federal bully pulpit wont be getting smaller over the next decade, and as a result, it will only be a matter the next school shooting before our enemies on the Left are able to make another Sandy Hook style push.   :bash:

Definitely start with an AR or two, plenty of extra standard capacity magazines, and buy at least a stripped lower for each of your kids to inherit.

I'm surprised that attacking online ammo sales hasn't come up with a greater emphasis before. Maybe it has and I just don't pay attention.  :dunno: Anyway, if you don't have a lifetime supply of ammo you should be shopping by the case (1,000rnds) and not by the box. Another potential target would be importations as this can be screwed with by sidestepping Congress through customs regulations and other loopholes so if you have an AK,SKS, or something that shoots cheap foreign steel ammo then you might want to start there.  :twocents:

Even if the push from federal level takes a few years to materialize, there seems to be a good chance of a push at the state level.  So if you wait until after the election and a panic buy occurs, but laws don't change, then you'll be looking at possible inflated prices should a state initiative actually happen.  Guess is if Hillary wins there will be a major rush and shelves will be clear of certain items.  They won't likely be back in stock for you to be choosy before the state initiative would kick in about 13 months after the Hillary panic starts.  Then it won't matter because the state won't allow certain things to be sold, so if receivers are $19.99 afterwards you'd have to move to a new state.

Ammo was what I was caught up short on. For the last year and a half I've been buying anytime there has been a sale on the calibers I shoot. Even if you buy what's on sale right now prices are still good with general oversupply. I've kept up on the deals from the emails I've got from the likes of Midway, Brownell, and a couple others.

Bimart has had some pretty good deals. I bought 2 boxes fusion 06 for $17.5 a box with a $2.5 rebate. I've been finding 22 ammo and the occasional deal on quality pistol ammo.

It depends. Do you have enough guns and ammo to protect you and your family during a prolonged civil war? If not, it's not a panic buy. It's called foresight. Regardless of who's elected, the civil war has already begun with a race war. It's only going to grow as time goes along.

At the risk of shouting fire in a crowded movie theater.

The Coming National Gun Ban – and How the States Can Resist

The law of averages predicts that at some time in the future, perhaps as soon as 2017, the Democratic Party will once again control the White House and majorities in both houses of Congress. When that happens, the next Democratic president -- be it Hillary Clinton or someone else -- will sign into law a sweeping, foreign-style gun ban.

Technology is getting close to the point that anybody that wants any kind of gun can just hit 'enter'.  I saw one site recently where the guy 3D printed all the parts for a 1911, then assembled them.  So what is the gov going to background check and regulate then?  Will you need to go through hoops to buy two pounds of cro-moly?

Not at all. I'm prepared. You can deny that our country's in a colossal mess and is getting worse all you want. That doesn't make it any less true. Do you even read the news online? Reuters, BBC, AP? If not, you probably should. There's nothing in what I said that's not confirmed by what's going on.

I think it's wise to prepare for hard times. Each of us need to assess how to do that, but IMO we entering the end of times that it will be cheap and easy to do so. The time to start preparing was several years ago starting with paying down Bill and becoming debt free.

You need a jig if you don't have access to accurate machine tools.  A jig lets you use a basic drill press--which you could construct with a regular household drill.
