Better sight for a Knight muzzleloader?

Is there a better open sight for a Knight muzzleloader other than a peep sight. My eyes just don't seem to work like they used to and the standard sight is hard for me to see in low light.

Are you asking about something different than the stock fiber optics on your knight, or did you put a peep style sight on and still don't like that?  Just trying to clarify so that we can come up with the rite answer for ya!  Williams peep sights are excellent...

I currently have the stock sight. I was looking for something brighter or larger. I max shoot at 50-75 yards. I really struggle beyond that because I just cant see the sights that well. I haven't tried the peep sights.

It gives an alignment tool to be sure that the fiber bear is in the center of the field of view. Like a peep on a bow lines up with the sight pin housing.

brightest and easiest to see might not necessarily be the most accurate...but if you can't see the sight enough to shoot anyways then the accuracy part falls away.  I think brightest-easiest for low light are the fiber optics---one fiber on the front sight and two on the rear.

Same concept as lining up the peep sight on your bow and the ring around your bow sight.

technical purpose for the hood is to protect the fiber from getting broken.

Secondary purpose that many are using it for is to use a larger peep, and align the peep with the hood to center the peep. 

The other comment is true that the eye instinctively centers the peep, but my cheek position changes when I change shooting position and thus so does my alignment of the front sight in the peep. 

It is worth trying the hood and a larger peep to see if that helps give a better field of view.

and to add, a lot of the earlier rifles didn't have windage adjustments on the rear sight/rear peep.  The front sight was dovetailed in.  To sight in for a given round, you would slide the hood off then move the sight through the dovetail until you were on horizontally.  When done, put the hood back on to protect the front sight from being pushed out of alignment.

It's like .22 compitition target shooting super simple super accurate. Match the vignettes.

I have all the stuff sabotloader listed, on my Knight Bighorn.

I definitely cannot do the stock sights   The peep setup works great.

I had to change the front fiber optic to green, because my 62 YO eyes don't see the red in dim light.

Lucky Dog I am thinking about converting my front sight to what you have there.  Just curious how well you like that?  It seems to me you could probably shoot a little farther and more accurately with that front sight.

Love it, very accurate to a long distance with a very clear sight picture. Feels like a scope without the magnification. My 13 year old son shot his buck with it off hand. Combo of some local posts with the williams fp in the back and the lyman target globe in the front, had to go through couple different companies to get the right parts, easy install.

For those that think the hood might be distracting, I would suggest to do not look at the hood itself - look through the hood to the target.

Also when you mention a Williams Hood make sure you are getting the "Fire Sight" hood not the closed hood.

Lucky Dog,  Yes I read that article, the problem was it was after my elk hunt.  So is that a knight bighorn you have those sights on?  If so what height of a front ram, and globe did you get? I am planning on converting my Bighorn over to this sight system.  I like the fiber optic dot, but it seems difficult to be very accurate 100yds or farther?  Even the tiny dot with a peep or ghost ring covers a lot at a 100yds.

I am excited to try it on my new ultra lite. Sabotloader, how do feel the coverage is for that front site at distance? Do you use a six o'clock hold?

The front bead at 100 yards does cover 3" but any time I use open sight I use a 6 O'clock hold on the target.  So the object I want to hit is sitting on top of the bead.

One thing to understand that front globe or the standard hood it that low light visability can be a challenge.  The Fire sight route that Mike suggest helps a lot.
