SHV vs NXS

Has anyone compared the glass side by side?  how much of a difference is there?

I didn't have them side-by-side, but the glass in both are great, the concern I had with the SHV was eye relief. It just seemed like I was too close to the scope for a full field of view and worried that my 300RUM might be giving me a bit of scope bite. Different caliber or just from one guy to the next that might not be a concern.
Disappointments are inevitable, misery is optional.

I have a NXS 5.5-22x50 and a SHV 4-14X56.  The optical quality is the same.  The main difference is in the turret design.  Both turret designs are absolutely reliable and repeatable though.

Thank you Canine,  would a kenton turret on an SHV make a difference?

I wouldn't mess with it. I like the SHV turrets just fine..especially for a field hunting rig. If you really want exposed turrets i'd just save up for a NXS and be done with it.

For an AR build I'd take a hard look at the SHV 4-14x50 FFP with the exposed elevation turret.  This may be the next scope I pick up.  It's going to be a while though...mama caught a glimpse inside my gun safe the other day and then started talking about all the new jewelry she'd like to have...which I took to be a not so subtle hint that I should spend some money on her...so I'll just have to dream about my next project for a while.

Yeah I kinda wanted a 50mm objective as opposed to the 56mm . I just want a fairly  simple reticle too and like the illuminated one . Mainly gonna be for plinking ,yokes and maybe deer.
