SICK of Slob Hunters
« on: October 17, 2016, 02:00:28 PM »
Worst opening day up here ever. It's no secret that the neighbors along Hwy 25 and I have a small herd of local mulies that travel between properties.  ALL private property except a small strip of public land between Hwy 25 and the lake --maybe 70 yards wide and mostly open grass. The deer might go there after dark but you don't see them there in the day this time of year. One part-time neighbor shot one of the big bucks opening day-I guess on his property..Oh well. The sheer volume of road hunters creeping along State Hwy. 25 was unbelievable. Sat. right at dark one white 4 door truck went in front of our house at least 5 times and finally pulled off on Bissell and shut off his lights. My wife is home alone as I have hunters I am picking up. She heard a door slam and the truck speeds away. She thinks the truck dropped off a hunter on the private side and picked him up at dark---she saw someone walking down the access road to the neighbors just before the truck left.  Sunday morning I have my hunters out looking for bear as they both tagged out on deer. Up pulls a truck at the pull-out at our mail box and out bails 4 guys that proceed to load their guns and crouch next to my mail box on Hwy 25.My wife makes her presence known but they stay there and one starts to walk up our driveway but turns when he sees her.( deer in the backyard) He walks down hwy 25 dressed in orange with a loaded gun and stands on the line between the hwy and our front yard--I mean right on our property line. They stay there for 45 min!!! My wife is beside herself when I get home and explains her morning adventures. Sooooo lucky I wasn't home--for me and them.   SICK of these types of "hunters". If you come by and want to see the deer and get some pics , come on up the driveway. No sweat..But if you try and sneek around the woods behind the house on private land--look out is all I can say. I am watching for you.

I think hunting while trespassing should be an instant life ban from hunting. Theres no excuse for it. Any time I have doubts about public/private I just assume its private and move on until I can verify.

Pretty weird considering how open and close to the highway you are.

It's very clear that its private property

It is truly unfortunate, what a miserable experience for your wife.  We are our own worst enemies in this day and age. With the ever decreasing opportunities to hunt private property, due mostly to d-bags like above. I actually was told I was on private property this weekend and to stay out.......it was my families neighbors property that we and one other had permission to hunt. We later ran into this knuckle dragger on another private piece of dirt which they had no permission to be on. It seems that with the diminishing amount of private land being accessible, creates situations where you run into idiots like this. Sorry that you had to deal with it but not surprising. Not trying to jack your thread, but seems like there is more and more of this crap happening....just my opinion.

No, laziness, a lack of respect for other peoples properties and a false sense of entitlement create situations like this.  Tons of national forest, dnr, blm and private timber company land thats free to hunt.  Diminishing private access is no excuse.  Im camped out on public land right now for modern deer, and ive seen a total of zero other hunters.  Guess theyre all too busy trespassing.

You ever thought about contacting wdfw and see if they will set up a robo deer operation in front of your place?

I can understand how people may act like they do around your place. I've seen very nice deer the 3 times I've been by there.

Pend Oreille county is like a giant go cart track during elk season.  Its unreal how many people drive around looking for an opportunity to shoot a deer or elk off of private property.  Imagine being a non hunter and seeing this kind of lousy behavior.... No wonder non hunters become anti hunters.

Opening day I went in behind a closed gate at 5 am. At 230 after I was soaked pretty good a very nice employee and his buddy who had the blessing of gate access offered me a ride out. Which was awsome . On the way down we passed a couple of hunters set up with spotting scope looking up on the units I just left. Got down to the gate and one of those jack wagons had taken a giant dump right in the middle of the road right in front of the gate along with a giant pile of t.p. I was so pissed I almost scooped it up with a cup to throw it on their truck. WOW

I'm used to slow drivers and stops in front of the house. I will wave them up the driveway so they can get a closer look and take some pics. I even let a couple kids help me put some apples out for them. Hunting them is out of the question.  Now if you want to hunt turkeys that is a different story. They have become so over populated and have become a pest. I do NOT feed the turkeys so they are fair game. Let me know if you want an easy turkey...we can work it out ...no fees just a depredation hunt. I am using a slingshot to keep them at bay for now.

Sounds like a perfect scenario, for a HUNTWA  child's first turkey lottery hunt!

Take away their hunting privileges should be a given. Like mentioned before there is plenty of public hunting ground out there. You had to figure these guys knew they were trespassing and hunting on private property. These guys aren't hunters they are idiots with firearms that bought a License. I would have called it in or confronted them.

If I was at home at the time you can rest assured I would have confronted them!! Wife has instructions to video it(from a safe place) and call it in from now on.

Geeze-should give you my phone number.  I'm about 10 minutes south of you and was home all day Saturday.  Would have been happy to run up and have a word with those hunters for your wife.  I feel your pain, we watched that same parade up and down Hwy 25. Someone broke the lock off the gate on the "no vehicles beyond this point" access up Addy road and guys were driving all over up in there.  Watched two guys put a sneak on a two point mulie and am sure they would have shot it had my neighbor not come home and scared it off. We have about a dozen mulies hang around our house, couple small bucks and does and fawns and I'll bet we had twenty or more rigs stop and glass them Saturday. Makes you kind of nervous when you see a rifle sticking out of a rig aimed at your house.  We also  heard several shots well after dark Saturday night.  Hate to say, but I'm getting so I cringe at the thoughts of opening weekend. Those knuckleheads make us all look bad.
