Decoy paint

Anybody ever use any of the duck decoy paint out there.  I'm finding Flambeau has one, bird vision  (reel wings) and a Parker brand. Is one better than another, have you ever painted your decoys? Is it worth doing?

I use spray paint and regular hardware store paint with a spray clear matte finish over it.  I was looking into some of the commercial "decoy" paints, but red many bad reviews about several of the big brands so I stayed away from them.

The only advice I have is to get flat paint.

I think any paint will work prep work being the key. a buddy pressure washed his, wiped down with acetone, primered then painted. lasted a long time. I think one trick that people over look is White paint with Titanium Oxide that throws off a natural UV glow that birds have in low light that decoys dont.

I've got a set of the Parker brand paints and 2 dozen decoys that need a repaint.  I haven't attempted it yet.

I have used the Parker paints multiple times.  I have also found that I do not have the artistic touch that others may have.

If your just looking to paint decoys I love how acrylic paints hold up and have no shine at all.. Very cheap at a arts and craft store also..

Re painted a few dozen with regular house paint similar to the parker set and had all kinds of chips at the end of 1 season. So don't go that route imo.

Did you use a clear overspray to protect the paint.   I've done that on new decoys and haven't had any chips or rubs.

I did. I think the flex in the decoy was just too much for the paint.

What brand decoy did you paint and did you clean and rough up the old paint before painting over it.

Old GHG's. Pressure wash and wire brush as prep.

I have only used white primer (kilz brand) to touch up decoys, but it has held up great for a couple seasons on my honkers and sprig floaters.
