In the past few years they have opened it for modern elk and late buck. They have a hot line but I do not have the number at the moment.

They will open a few for modern season but most gates will stay closed. It's great for the walk in guys.

I went walk in scouting on Monday and didn't see anything until I went in to ryderwood and seen 7 deer bedded down. I have been going here for elk modern and the gates are always open but have never been here for deer. But ya that would be nice if the gates stay closed cause most people won't walk in the rain were going to have for the opening weekend. Also set up some cams about 2 miles in. I will post if I see anything nice

I know a couple guys who got elk in Ryderwood during muzzleloader season. Pack the elk to road and call security and they haul it out to gate for you. Don't know for sure but heard they won't haul deer out.

They always open the same gates the day before or the morning of the opener.  The walkin gates will remain closed and if u hunt there u know what gates im talking about

Rumor has it that this year they are not going to open any gates this year and next. Then start selling permits. Weyco letting Sierra pacific have full control. I have no facts but have heard this from several people at Sierra pacific and weyco.

They are not going to sell permits because they don't want people in there year round like weyco does. This comes straight from the top, as others have stated, if you get something, get it to the road and call the security guard. He will help you get it out, but don't waste his time until your animal is ready to be picked up.
